us
Derman
for the well-being of the Kurdish and Turkish Speaking Communities
was set up in 1992 by members of the Turkish and Kurdish Communities.
It was formed The Health Advocacy and Counselling Services for Kurdish
and Turkish Speaking Communities. Derman was one of the first advocacy
services and one of the first to be based firmly within its client
community.
Derman's
objectives
Our
main objectives are:
- To enable access to health and social care services through
advocacy services
- To provide mental health support services to help individuals
overcome their psychological problems
- To support parents and families in transition to mainstream
society and education system
- To reduce family poverty with welfare advice and guidance
- To promote healthy life style through targeted smoking cessation
program
Derman's
mission
Derman
is growing and expanding into new areas of need. We are committed
to the provision of health and social welfare and education services
to Kurdish and Turkish speaking communities in Hackney. Our aim
is to improve the quality of life for the community. We maintain
this aim in two ways:
- Providing direct health, education and social welfare services
- Working in partnerships with other agencies to promote awareness
of the needs of our service users.
