The word 'Derman' has the same meaning in both Kurdish and Turkish - strength, solution, cure.

Derman provides a range of health-related services to Kurdish, Turkish, and Turkish Cypriot people, mainly refugees and asylum seekers in both Hackney and Haringey.

The services include health advocacy, mental health support, mental health advocacy, counselling, family support and welfare rights advice for individuals and families who have been torn apart by war, torture and trauma.

Developed from within the communities and remaining firmly based within them Derman has grown dramatically in response to growing need for its support and services.
