The word 'Derman' has the same meaning in both Kurdish and Turkish - strength, solution, cure.

Derman provides a range of health-related services to Kurdish, Turkish, and Turkish Cypriot people, mainly refugees and asylum seekers in Hackney.

The services include Bi-Lingual Health Advocacy, Counselling, Mental Health Outreach and Support, Welfare Rights Advice, Domestic Violence Outreach Work and Smoking Cessation (Islington Borough only) for individuals and families.

Developed from within the communities and remaining firmly based within them Derman has grown dramatically in response to growing need for its support and services.

For latest news about derman, vacancies and reports on different work and projects, please visit our News & Successes page.

Note: Please ignore Our Haringey Office details at the bottom of the website pages as we closed down services in haringey at the end of march 2009.
